W. I. N. Boys Mentoring Program:

Dr. Eva Hardrick, VP/Executive Director

We Need You!

W.I.N. (Working to Improve Neighborhoods) is a crime prevention/youth empowerment program that uses organized basketball as a vehicle to create positive social change and to encourage leadership among Jacksonville’s underserved male youth.

Are you interested in coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or enriching the lives of young men? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this is the place for you! We are looking for positive adult male volunteers who can commit to helping our boys become the young men they are destined to be. All adults will be background screened by Jacksonville Children's Commission(JCC) as part of the mentoring/volunteer process.

W.I.N. is not a basketball program. Our program uses the game of basketball as a vehicle to bring in male participants ages 8 through 18 as long as they are enrolled in high school. We offer individual and group mentoring by qualified mentors, tutoring by certified teachers, and daily enrichment classes that speak life in to our participants. Our target areas are 32206, 32208, 32209 and 32218 zip codes.

All participants must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian. We have rules and guidelines that must be read, signed, and followed by parents/guardians.

With education also being a key component of our program, report cards and progress reports must be turned in after each grading period and if any grade is below a 'C', tutoring becomes mandatory and/or basketball/physical activities periods will be adjusted accordingly. Participants must attend W.I.N enrichment classes to participate in any basketball/physical fitness activities. Our various community service projects are also an obligation of the participants.
